Story

Lucas's Story

From the moment we found out we were pregnant, Shaun and I knew our lives would never be the same again. Everything was going great until our 20 week scan. We found out we were having a little boy, but we also discovered that our little baby was quite small. We were sent for another scan at 26 weeks to make sure our little man was still growing ok. Little did we know our lives were about to be turned upside down. We were sent down to Adelaide almost immediately and met with a team of specialist doctors who dealt with extremely complicated pregnancies. The doctors told us that our baby was extremely small and was unfortunately dying in my womb. We were given two options; let things happen naturally and give birth to a sleeping baby or proceed with an emergancy c section and give our baby the best chance at life. On August 4th 2017 at 9:12am a beautiful little baby who we named Lucas David was born at a tiny 446 grams. They were able to stabalise Lucas and he was whisked away to the NICU. Unfortuantely as time went on, the severity of Lucas's ailments were realised. Although the doctors had done everything they could, unfortunately Lucas was just too sick. On August 8th 2017 Lucas grew his angel wings and passed away peacefully in his mum and dad's arms.

When we were leaving the hospital we were given a Xavier bear in memory of another little baby who had sadly passed. Thousands of parents are affected by the loss of a baby every year in Australia and are in need of support to help them navigate this devastating grief journey. For every $100 we raise, a bear of hope will be donated in loving memory of our baby Lucas David, to provide comfort, support and guidance to families in the immediate days after their loss and beyond.

Any donation, big or small would be appreciated.

Thank you for keeping the memory of our beautiful baby alive.

Love Terri, Shaun and Lucas
