Sebastian James O'Meara

Story

Hi everyone,

Ever since we learned Sebastian's fate, we struggled to understand why and how this has happened to us. We felt alone, sad and as though our world just collapsed. It started when we attended our 20 week scan, we were so excited to see his little heartbeat on the screen and to find out his gender - we had planned to go shopping straight after the scan to purchase some clothes and nursery items for him. However, the unthinkable happened and we were rushed to three different hospitals over the next couple of days and we were told that our little Sebastian was diagnosed with a lethal form of skeletal dysplasia, his little bones were too fragile to cope with a functioning body. He was expected to pass within utero at any time.

on 17th August, 2015 at 3.24pm Sebastian was brought into the world, weighing a tiny 140g and sleeping. This was our first baby, our angel baby and delivering him to a silent room was heartbreaking. We were surrounded by family and love but it still didn't bring back what we had just lost. Those precious hours we spent talking to him, holding him and kissing him will never be replaced.

Sebastian taught us about a love that can not be explained and he has already brought so many people together. Our little angel baby was remembered at his funeral on 26/8/15, it was the first and last time he got to be in the presence of so much love with all his family. However, we want his legacy of love to continue and we have a number of ideas we plan on doing this.. This fundraising page is one way.. Let us tell you why..

when Sebastian died we were given a bear of hope package full of information and support for mums and dads like us. We were given a bear in memory of another little girl who passed away, and we want to give that back too.

This organisation allowed us to be able to talk to other parents of angel babies as well as counsellors - which has been amazing - no one wants to be on the team we have found ourselves on, but we can ensure that future members are supported in the same way we have been.

We are am aiming to raise money for Bears Of Hope Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support and We would welcome any contribution, great or small, that you could make! Thousands of parents are affected by the loss of a baby every year in Australia and are in need of support to help them navigate this devastating grief journey. For every $100 I raise, a bear of hope will be donated in loving memory of our baby, Sebastian James O'Meara to provide comfort, support and guidance to families in the immediate days of their loss and beyond.

much love, Sebastian's proud mummy and daddy xx
